Fall is in the Air

The tempertures are getting cooler and there's a feeling in the air around the Smoky Mountains that fall is fast approaching.  Personally, I cannot wait until the leaves start to change (it's my favorite time of year).  Here's a great link about the color to expect this season:  Fall Colors Should be Excellent This Year!

There are so many activities to do after the summer season.  One of my favorites is to take a day trip to Cataloochee and see the elk.  This is such a popular spot during the summer and I welcome the slower traffic during the fall.

Cataloochee holds a special place in my heart (as cheesy as that sounds).  My family has been camping there for over 40 years and I have some amazing childhood memories that were created during these trips.  Honestly, the park has changed since the elk were introduced (there are a lot more people and you can NEVER seem to get a camping spot).  Even with this being said, the park is a must-see for anyone visiting the area.  Hopefully you will find it as special as I do.
